Silk Screen Printing at SVA

Networking

It's a wrap! My first and hopefully not last screen-printing class at SVA concluded with some great results.

The art of silk screening is a totally unique method of making an image. It requires many steps that must be performed perfectly or the results are very discouraging and very messy!

Beyond the hundreds of things not to do, I think the important lesson I learned this semester was what makes a good candidate for screen printing. I attempted a broad swath of contrast levels, from very soft and subtle to very high contrast. I had much better luck with bolder shapes than these air-brush inspired delicate things.

They were all one color prints except the Frankenstein Monster and the Evil Dead lady as noted below, which have an undercoat of glow-in-the-dark ink (how cool is that?!).
