After finding On Broadway: From Rent to Revolution in a great bookstore in DUMBO last Spring, what a pleasant surprise to discover the author/publisher was going to speak at the Type Directors Club.

Tonight Drew Hodges gave a hilarious and insightful discussion called "Theater Posters That Changed Broadway".

Mr. Hodges recounted his journey from launching a 3-5 person Manhattan design firm (Spot Company) in the mid 90's all the way to a giant ad agency (SpotCo).

He began with the art for Rent, put Chicago on the map, and ultimately created the iconic look for Hamilton, in the process defining what would become modern Broadway advertising.
